M40 #42 A new OD3 para chinstrap

A new OD3 para chinstrap set has been fitted

The camouflage pattern is the USMC “Frogskin” which was adapted as a civilian but also military pattern known as “Duck Hunter”

It has the factory stamps NS64 (Vereinigte Deutsche Nickelwerke) and the lot number is D253

This helmet represents a circa 1944 British MkII para helmet in combat livery

When acquired the shell was covered in thick smooth olive-drab paint inside and out

The shell is in good condition with the effects of light rust pitting evident. The maker size stamp is ET64 (Eisenhutten) with a lot number stamp of 3494 are visible but lightly stamped. This shell was stripped to bare metal, primed then painted in grey green with a textured outer. An acceptance stamp has
