This is because of the clever use of fabric. It is sequined almost head to toe however the fabric behind it is actually a metallic thread lame with eyelash fringe portions to it. This keeps it very light weight and also supple while still allowing it to appear structured. The dress has a black velvet bodice that is simply cut and has a high waistline.
